Welcome to our behind-the-scenes look at CpThornton Guitars!

I start with beautiful
wood like these
Curly Maple neck blanks ...

I then straighten and level them on
the jointer.

I prepare and join
lovely body wood
like these Curly Maple tops
and Mahogany backs ...

In this picture, I am sanding the inside of a shaped guitar top.

Here I demonstrate
the installation of the purfling
line in another top.

And here you can see inside
one of these magnificent
guitars before the top is glued
in place.  You can see the
semi-hollow construction and
the through-neck.

After gluing on the top and back, I finish carving the rough assembled body to shape and finish the shaping with fine cabinet scrapers.

Sanding the assembled body.

Ready for Finish!

After assembly, fretting
and sanding,
I spray each guitar.
Many instruments get
sunbursts on the top, back
sides and neck!

Each guitar is buffed
to a high gloss.

Next, premium components
like these Lindy Fralin Pickups
and Gotoh 510 tuners
are carefully installed

The instrument is carefully wired
and the matching wood
control cover is fitted.

The guitar is strung.

 The action is adjusted
to perfection.  Note that
there is no truss rod cover
to fiddle with.

Time to play!
